Loving...playing with Spud & watching him and Rilla become friends
Eating...fresh homemade bread with locally grown free range nitrate free ham
Drinking...ginger beer
Wearing...paint on my clothes & on myself (unintentionally, of course. I'm a slightly messy painter)
Feeling...busy
Wanting...a weekend
Thinking...that I can't take my eyes off Spud...he just ran past with a shopping bag
Dreaming...of when Spud is old enough to work so that I can do something with his endless energy!

It has been rather manic around here for the past week! It's generally busy to start with, which means that when extra projects are added or things go wrong it gets really crazy. The day I went to pick up Spud the bulls decided to break down the gate between them which resulted in all the cows being mixed up and a pair of tired and cranky bulls. Thankfully neither was seriously injured. It also led to one jumping the fence, and then the following day the other disappeared, which led to an entire day spent searching for him. Thankfully we found him, and both bulls have been well behaved since, although there is now a whole paddock and a lane way in between the two herds.
We've also been fencing, getting rained on, painting, bringing home new farm animals, having trouble with the ones we already had and trying to raise a rather mad little puppy in the middle of it! I hope this weekend goes smoothly and peacefully as we haven't had one for a while.

What's been happening in your world lately?
Here's to a restful weekend!
Ginger beer sounds just awesome!!! You have been busy! I am so glad that you were able to find your missing bull! I can not imagine how much time it must take to care for your animals. And oh sweet Spud! He is so cute! I hope that you get that weekend soon! Nicole xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Nicole! This weekend looks as thought it will be a bit quieter, although you never know what the animals will get up to! All part of the fun of farming :-)
DeleteHope you have a good weekend! Xx
A lovely post, and beautiful pics as always. Hope the weekend brings you some time to relax & breathe again. I think all puppies should come with a little sensor that beeps loudly to alert us whenever they're being mischievous ! But in reality, it's part of their charm isn't it. Have fun with his training too,
ReplyDeleteHugs xx
Thank you Gilly! A sensor would be lovely, but as you said not quite as fun :-)
DeleteHave a good weekend!! Xo
Oh SarahJane I do hope you find your weekend peaceful... you sure sound like you deserve it! Spud is the cutest little ball of mischief I think I have ever seen... Even in your other post he looks like a total rogue, posing for his picture!! What a little keeper and I bet he'll be a great worker when put to the task. With your training and love, I bet he'll be just fine! Hazel x
ReplyDeleteSpud can be quite a darling...and a bit of a devil in disguise too haha. He's a great little dog though and I love him to bits!
DeleteI hope you have a lovely weekend!! Xoxo
Too much happening here too, but all of a rather boring variety ... swop you, your busy sounds much more fun :)
ReplyDeletePity we can't swop! Someone else's busy would be rather refreshing ;-)
DeleteA really lovely post. Your words are super, as are your wonderful photos. Hope you have a relaxing weekend - you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! I hope you have a lovely weekend too xx
DeleteBeautiful rural scenes - love the second, just gorgeous! I've enquired about nitrate free ham or bacon where I live but none of our retailers seemed to have even heard of it. Does it taste just as good? (Better I suspect)
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen! I've had nitrate free bacon & ham from two different local farmers, both free range but one pastured & one grain fed. Both were very yummy but the pastured ham & bacon are just to die for. I wasn't ever a ham on toast kind of person until we started getting this one, now I love it! I think how the pig is grown makes a difference but overall the nitrate free products are tastier!
DeleteSounds like an awful lot happening!! Hope you had a good rest on the weekend. Spud looks too adorable...I can just imagine him zooming around with a shopping bag in his mouth..hehe
ReplyDeleteWe did, thank-you :-) Spud is very cute, some days that's his saving grace lol!
DeleteI have some catching up to do in blogland. I had to go back and read about your new pup Spud! My mother had a border collie way back in the 40s or 50s and he was also called Spud! I love this :) Your little Spud looks like so much fun, and the photos of him and Rilla together are so cute. You have certainly had an crazy animal week with the dogs & the cows!! Glad it's all sorted out now and everyone is behaving themselves. We once had to search for our horse through woods and fields when she ran away in a thunderstorm. I hate that feeling of not knowing what you'll find, so I'm glad your wandering bull was safe in the end. Hope this week turns out to be less adventurous. Wendy x
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Wendy.
DeleteThat's really interesting that your Mum had a BC called Spud too! I thought his name was uncommon but obviously not ;-)
Hope you have a lovely week too,
Sarah x
Wow! That sounds like an adventure in itself! And I thought it was hard herding 3 year olds around all day :) I hope they all behave for you this week Sarah!

P.S. Your ladies up there are just lovely!
