I love knitting dishcloths. There's something so satisfying about being able to finish a project so quickly and be able to use it straight away. And having something so practical that also has a touch of handmade luxury to it is delightful.
I was rummaging through my knitting pattern notes and scribblings last week and came across my hand written pattern for a basic stocking stitch dishcloth. It was the pattern I had written out when I used to sell my knitted items. I got tired of measuring dishcloths all the time so I had written out the pattern to ensure they all came out identical.
This pattern has a simple garter stitch edging to prevent the edges from rolling over. I've put it onto Ravelry as a free downloadble PDF. Worked in DK yarn the dishcloth measures 16 x 16cm finished. You can of course also knit them as washcloths, too!

The yarn I've used is discontinued, but KnitPicks has some beautiful cottons.

DeleteI have been knitting for a while now but have never knitted a wash cloth or dish cloth. Perhaps it is time I rectified that!
