New Year, New Venture
At the end of the year, I usually write a reflective post - either looking back on the year from a blogging or a making perspective. Last year I didn't do that as we were in the middle of moving interstate, and this year I'm more excited about the end of the coming week than the New Year. You see, I'll be collecting the keys to a shop space at the end of this week, and spending the weekend moving all of my stock into it, setting it up and arranging it, ready to open in a week. I'm very excited!
My shop is a temporary one - called a pop-up shop. If you haven't heard the term before, it simply means a temporary shop. Some pop-ups last for 1 day, 1 week or 1 season. I'm having mine for 1 month. I'm really excited to be popping up in Bellingen over the middle of summer. It's going to be so nice to have all of my yarns and other things displayed in my shop; it's just not the same having them tucked away in a cupboard!
I spent my break over Christmas knitting which was just the best, and I made a rainbow bunting to hang in the shop. Now I'm knitting little mini jumpers to display in the shop, too. I'm having a lot of fun with these and don't know if I'll be able to stop at the originally planned three. I began with the intention of using a pattern but as always I end up doing my own thing. I just don't seem to be able to use patterns when it comes to some things! I do wish knitting jumpers in my size could be this fast.
I'm really excited about the shop. I love talking to people face-to-face, helping them choose yarns, listening to their project plans...it's the thing I got the most enjoyment from at Knitfest. I can't wait to be in there arranging all of my stock, too, although I know there are probably going to be a few hiccups along the way, as there always is when doing new things!
If you happen to be around Bellingen or are going to be here over January, here at the shop details.

All the best,
Sarah

Congratulations! That's so exciting Sarah!! Those jumpers have to be the most adorable thing I have ever seen. The combination of colours in the fair isle jumper is going to go on my wishlist xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kellie! Knitting the jumpers is rather addictive! The combination of the red with the grey alpaca is a favourite of mine :-)
DeleteHappy New year, Sarah and best wishes with your exciting project. The bunting is so pretty and I love the jumpers and would visit except it's geographically impossible from WA at the moment, so I remain your online friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Deborah! Happy New Year to you, too. WA is definitely a long way from here, I'll be posting lots of photos of the shop so you can check it out from there :-)
DeleteCongratulations what an exciting start to the new year for you. We stopped in Bellingen when we stayed in Urunga a year ago and it was such a lovely place. Have a wonderful time with your pop up shop and a very Happy New Year to you. x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Catherine! Urunga is a beautiful spot, too. Such lovely beaches! Happy New Year to you, too x
DeleteBonne Chance!
ReplyDeleteThank you! x
DeleteHappy new year, congratulations on your new shop .
ReplyDeleteWhat is camp creative?
A very quick easy jumper is "Flax" a Free pattern from Tin Can Knits on Ravelry..... in 8 ply , top down...I've almost finished my second one.
I love the fact that it lends itself to any form of creativity you want to play with.
Knit on circulars means almost no purling ,so very fast.
Thank you so much! I've seen Flax, it looks like a great pattern. My next garment make is going to be 'Doocot' by Kate Davies.
DeleteHappy new year!
Googled camp creative....looks awesome
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!! Wishing you every success with your pop-up shop. Just wishing we didn’t live in another state!! I’ll be there in spirit x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Meredithe! Happy New Year x
