No doubt you have realised by now that I am a book lover. I'd rather hold a beautifully bound paper edition in my hands than read a digital version any day. I think perhaps you might be a book lover too, and as 3 Cookbooks Worth Owning was so enjoyed I thought a follow-up post was in order. Because we all know it's hard to find not only cookbooks, but books in any category worth purchasing.
1. The first book I must share with you is My Family Table by Eleanor Ozich. I've mentioned before how much I love Eleanor's recipes and I have no doubt that this new book is going to get just as much use. It is simply beautiful, from the photography to the layout. The thing I was thrilled to discover upon purchasing is that it features a good sized breakfast section, which is the meal I struggle to create the most.
So many wholefood books are filled with complicated steps, or rare and expensive ingredients, but My Family Table is filled with simple, wholefood recipes that are easy to prepare and have delicious results, and using ingredients that you'd keep in your pantry or already purchase at the shops. Check it out for yourself, I promise you won't be disappointed.
2. "A recipe for strawberry pie, a prompt to hike by the light of the moon, a place to press flowers: every page inside the charming textured two-piece case invites readers to wander, gather, savor, and ponder the natural world around them. For every wild and free spirit—and those who aspire to be—this is a field guide to living life to the fullest." - Chronicle Books
If you aren't familiar with Katie Daisy's work, then prepare to fall in love. This book is just gorgeous, inside and out. How to be a Wildflower is simply delightful and is so inspiring just to look at (take a peek at the book trailer here)
3. I haven't personally purchased any of Rhonda Hetzel's books (writer of the popular blog Down to Earth), but they have been recommended and I know they are loved by many of you. Rhonda has just published another book, The Simple Home. "With a year of monthly projects that make household management easier, Rhonda encourages you to set up good systems, make what you need and appreciate what you have. Learn how to stretch money further, safely clean your home and cook from scratch with 40 favourite recipes, including step-by-step guides to baking bread and making cheese."
Now, I'd love to know what newly published books you can recommend? Or perhaps there is one yet to be released that you are waiting for?

I love books and thete is certainly something about holding them that the convenience of e-books can't beat. I love recipe books as it combines two of my loves. Food and photography. I will keep my eye out for 'My Family Table'.
ReplyDeleteLast year I bought a book for my mum called 'A Cottage Under the Big Pines' by Susan Southam. It's a beautiful photographic history of a family cottage in rural Australia and the story about the 30 years that Susan lived there.
That books sounds beautiful Kate, I'll have to look it up! x
DeleteGreetings!
ReplyDeleteI don't have them yet either, but Rhonda has published three books to date: The Simple Life, which I think is out of print, Down to Earth (on its way to me!) and, as you stated, her newest is The Simple Home. I, too, wish I could own all three.
So enjoying your new-to-me blog!
*hugs*

Hello Kelley,
DeleteSo glad you are enjoying it here :-) Happy reading x
I`m a big fan of the Sally Wise cookbooks- in fact they are all I use nowadays as her recipes work every time She lives here in Tasmania and is just about to release another book- "A Kitchen in the Valley" which is beautifully photographed unlike her previous books. Also, for pure drooling over, Matthew Evans "Winter on the Farm" - how I love a Tasmanian winter and the photographs are exquisite!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen that one of Matthew Evans, although I love the Gourmet Farmer Deli Book. I haven't used any of Sally Wise's recipes but they sound lovely! x
