Yes if I remember to get the lard out at the start of cooking it is usually soft enough by the time I'm ready to start cooking...I'm just not a very patient person ;-)Say Little Henhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11059966714131515884noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4360891399253850627.post-81024838914588654572017-02-04T22:29:10.399+10:002017-02-04T22:29:10.399+10:00Lard from pastured pigs is very different from sto...Lard from pastured pigs is very different from store-bought lard - I'd steer clear of it too! The recipe I used also has some information on how good proper lard actually is for you, and more references if you were interested in learning about it :-) http://www.mommypotamus.com/render-lard-crock-pot/Say Little Henhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11059966714131515884noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4360891399253850627.post-29860836219868094942017-02-04T22:27:11.566+10:002017-02-04T22:27:11.566+10:00I'm glad you enjoyed it Amanda :-)I'm glad you enjoyed it Amanda :-)Say Little Henhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11059966714131515884noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4360891399253850627.post-9802525516029258812017-02-04T20:40:22.359+10:002017-02-04T20:40:22.359+10:00Yum! I keep fat from cooking lamb chops etc and use that up too. I love veges cooked in fat. You can always reheat what you have left and pour into another jar. Salsa jars are a good size and shape.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12874273438983052621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4360891399253850627.post-35860383459437228532017-02-04T11:50:52.358+10:002017-02-04T11:50:52.358+10:00This looks very good Sarah...great zero waste! Nowadays I tend to steer clear of lard as it is a saturated fat and not really good for my cholesterol count.Piphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07024358673602132526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4360891399253850627.post-78728376080716795672017-02-03T09:58:17.658+10:002017-02-03T09:58:17.658+10:00Hi Sarah, I am so interested in your lard making, ...Hi Sarah, I am so interested in your lard making, thanks for sharing your helpful tips.
