At least in this part of Australia anyway, down south they get quite chilly.
The tomatoes weren't mature enough to ripen nicely, they weren't quite properly developed or I probably would have left them on the bench in hope. They made delicious chutney though :-)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07424494318400885717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4360891399253850627.post-39448782880445122692015-01-21T00:37:17.341+10:002015-01-21T00:37:17.341+10:00Hearing about your garden is getting me excited ab...Hearing about your garden is getting me excited about mine. I'm blessed to finally have some grass out back to start a veggie garden and I hope it'll give us healthy eats throughout the summer. :) Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01073489020505303471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4360891399253850627.post-91474724147404480252015-01-20T12:29:24.498+10:002015-01-20T12:29:24.498+10:00Sarah, beautiful post and rather envious of your 2...Sarah, beautiful post and rather envious of your 2kg bounty of tomatoes! I'm growing cherry tomatoes at the moment but only a few ripening at any one time which I always just pop straight into my mouth. But good news that you managed to use them green. Love that green chutney.
I am also growing the Cocozelle - they are just fab. Oh aren’t you wonderful with your garden! Just love hearing stories of feeding the soil - it will love you for it! It's stunning, actually. Super impressed that you went to all that work!
2. Zucchini - Yours looks beautiful! Funny how we can't get rid of the stuff in growing season, but here in the dead of winter, we have to pay MONEY for it in the store. Such a crime. =)Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12803165767198838828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4360891399253850627.post-81691202602657757492015-01-18T01:13:22.586+10:002015-01-18T01:13:22.586+10:00Fresh tomatoes are the best. We are in the depths of winter here and although, being by the sea, we have escaped the snow, it takes rather a lot of courage to venture out. Won't some of your tomatoes ripen on a sunny window sill or in a paper bag with a banana? Our growing season here is barely warm enough for long enough to ripen tomatoes unless you have a super organised greenhouse. We have neither a greenhouse, nor are super organised, so we have to employ every ripening trick in the book. Keep the sunny pictures coming, us northern hemisphere peeps are enjoying them so much.
