Well, here is the post about my new project that I promised you. What are all those circles for, I hear you ask?
They are to be tied to a string, in an arrangement of prettiness, to form a colourful garland.
I'm having so much fun making it.
I was getting tired of baby hats, and needed a little project to do that would lift up my knitting spirits again.
I have had the idea for this bunting wandering around my head for some time, so I rummaged around in my yarn stash, choosing the colours I thought would go nicely together.
I didn't worry about gauge or tension, I actually wanted the circles to be different sizes. 4, 8 & 10 ply were among the mix, and I am quite happy with the results.
What have you been creating lately? Anything exciting or new?
My garland is nearly finished, and I am ready to return to hat-knitting again now.

A little update on Mr Boobook: He flew away that night, and the next morning mama Sunbird was back in her nest, very contented and pleased that the annoying visitor had left.
I spied Mr Boobook again last night, just on dark. He was sitting in a branch, watching me put the baby turkeys to bed.

Love the garland idea. Can't wait to see the finished result! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, they will look gorgeous strung up as a garland and I love that they are knitted circles. I haven't seen that before and I initially thought they were crochet circles until I checked out the ravelry link. Very sweet. And I completely relate to having to do a little interim project before getting back to a main project as I have just done that - made myself a little something before getting back into the cardigan I'm making for my daughter :-) Mel x
ReplyDeleteThanks Mel! I was excited when I found the pattern as I hadn't seen knitted circles before either :-)
DeleteI just love these colours that you've picked - and what a fab idea. I like the thought of all different sizes & colours, am looking forward to the reveal. Glad to hear that Mr Boobook hasn't gone too far away :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday,

Hmmm, maybe I need to make a garland for my studio... out of crocheted hearts perhaps? :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping by my blog to say hi!

Lovely sherbet-y colours :D
ReplyDeleteI love the spring-time colours you've chosen for the garland. Thanks for the link ...what a great way to knit circles without having to knit in the round ... so tidy on the edges :) Looking forward to seeing the final result! Wendy
ReplyDeleteOh this is going to be fantastic! The colors are perfect and one of the best parts is, I haven't seen garland like this before! One of a kind lady! Wonderful work!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Nicole! It's nearly finished now - I'm hoping it turns out all right :-)
DeleteNice idea, I like garlands.I also love that little owl.I missed the post about mr Boobok! I love owls. There are many where I live and they nest under my roof, especially on summer. Last year I had a whole family of mother , father and three little feather balls!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I would love to see the finished garland.
ReplyDeleteI also find that i need new projects to lift my spirits from time to time. I'm happiest when i'm being creative.
Good Morning Sarah Jane,
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the finished garland. What lovely colors it is made out of, and a great way to use your yarn stash.
We all need a change of pace to keep our inspiration going.
Have a good day.
:) Becka
This new garland sounds exciting! I can't get over how cute that little owl is either! :-)
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to do a simple project in between all the ones that take a little more thought and time. I know your garland is going to be lovely. Have a wonderful rest of the week. Tammy
