It has been way too hot to knit here for the last few days.
But, joining in with the Yarn Along again this week (button on bottom of post), I have photographed my latest work along with my latest book.
Those of you that have seen my previous Yarn Along posts will know that I'm not really a novel reader, although I do enjoy them a lot more under a blanket, by the wood stove, in winter.
Yesterday, however, a long overdue trip to the library was had, and after an hour or two enjoying the air-conditioned peace and quiet, I returned home with a stack of books.

Yesterday, however, a long overdue trip to the library was had, and after an hour or two enjoying the air-conditioned peace and quiet, I returned home with a stack of books.
Pigs, pizza, celts and lace were among the mix, but the first book I selected to read was Working Dogs: Stories from around Australia. I haven't read much in it yet, but what I have I have enjoyed.
Asides from this collection of true tales, I've been flicking through the most gorgeous book, A Gathering Of Lace.

It is full of beautiful lace patterns - from shawls, jackets and pullovers to gloves, socks, and even a couple of purses. It really is delightful.
It did rain for most of the weekend, so I managed to almost finish a baby hat I am working on.
I'm busy trying to get a small collection of Bamboo, Cotton and Organic Cotton baby hats up to release into my Madeit Shop as an Autumn collection, which is now only two months away.
In this heat, progress is slow, but I think I will have three or four hats finished by March or April.
I'd love to know what you've been reading/making lately!

PS Thank-you once again to all my lovely new followers and visitors for stopping by and leaving such gorgeous comments. I really am so thrilled to have so many new visitors, and I really want to come and visit you all, but life is really hectic here at the moment - among other things, we're nursing a sick cow, so I'm afraid I'm a bit tardy in my return visits. I hope you understand and I'll come check out your blogs as soon as possible, xx

Loving that baby hat, for sure! Hope the sick cow is better soon, and that your week gets a little cooler for knitting! Happy Wednesday - Tanya
ReplyDeleteThanks Tanya, I think our cow is starting to "come out of it". She stood up today for the first time in 5 days which was really exciting :-)
Deletexx
That looks a lovely pile of books & such a sweet wee striped hat. Hope your cow is better soon - I'm now nursing 2 sick pups! So hi-ho, hi-ho, it's back to the vet we go again this morning :-(
ReplyDeleteXx
Oh, I hope Ben & Jerry are better soon and it isn't anything too serious :-)
DeleteHave a lovely week!
xx
The baby hat is adorable and your book selections look fantastic! I always love finding books that move my soul! Currently I am reading some organic gardening books that shed light on our food sources and how soil content is affecting our kids. (My son has horrible allergies as well as food allergies...which is something I will be focusing on come spring on my blog) I hope that your cow gets better and that the weather cooperates so that you can comfortably knit more hats! The shop sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteWe're as organic as possible around here and find soil health really quite interesting - looking forward to your Spring posts :-)
xx
I love that photo of Rilla in the laundry hamper! I too have a herding dog, but he's not trained for working ... just a constant friend (Australian shepherd). Wendy
ReplyDeleteOh your beanie is so sweet with the little ear muffs. I'm sure it will be a hit in your shop :-) My favourite thing to do is go to the library with no books in mind but to just pick up books that inspire me there and then. Happy reading and knitting! Mel x
ReplyDeleteThat's how I enjoy the Library too :-)
DeleteSarah xx
I started reading The China Study last month but haven't picked it back up this month. Really good read so I need to get back to it. The baby hat is very pretty. And Rilla sleeping in the laundry basket in your previous post is precious. Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah Jane, just popped over to see what you were up to and to thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment on my newest blog post "Snowy Day in Wonderland". I love your blog and look forward to many, many more visits to explore and get to know you better. I did pop over to your shop to look at those stinkin' cute knitted bunnies of yours... I am going to have to get one for my art studio...so don't be surprised when you see an order from the USA! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm off to visit a couple more blogs, yes, I'm still making the rounds too! This has been the best blog party I have ever attended and met so many great new friends! Wowza! :D
Hugs and hope your cow gets better quickly,
Beth P

I love the baby hat-- colors are scrumptious. Reminds me of chocolate and cream! Really pretty. The library finds are wonderful too. The lace book would have me for hours!

It is always easier to knit/crochet in the winter. Something about curling up under a blanket with a project. :)
